 Introduction
John Maguire has been in precious metal refining, including the recycling of
amalgam waste, since February of 1972. Maguire & Strickland Refining,
Inc. was incorporated in December of 1987.
Mr. Maguire became owner of the company in
February of 1993. We are proud of our precious metal refining and waste
recycling programs.
John is currently on the State of Minnesota Technical Advisory Board for the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services
regarding dental waste.

Business and Operations
Maguire & Strickland specializes in gold refining for the jeweler, dental labs,
dentists and in waste management for the dental office.
Larger amounts of dental gold scrap are
melted and assayed for the jeweler, dental lab or dentist.
The waste management portion of the company
dental concentrates on either local or prepaid services. Local services
include pickup service within 75 miles of the shop in MN. Local waste services include disposal of: spent
fixer, amalgam, amalgam traps, amalgam sludges, amalgam separator filters,
mercury, lead, film, fluorescent light bulbs and silver recovery equipment.
Prepaid containers are for dental accounts
beyond the 75 mile range of the shop in Minneapolis MN. Prepaid containers are for: amalgam, amalgam
traps, amalgam sludges, amalgam separator filters, lead and film.
A prepaid scrap mailer for patients or the
dental office is also available for payment of gold crowns and bridges. Top
dollar is paid for old precious metal scrap gold, silver or palladium
restorations.
We are in compliance with federal, state
and local regulatory agencies.
Annual sampling and reporting of our
recycling services include: Minnesota Metropolitan Council Environmental
Services MCES in St. Paul, the Anoka County Hazardous Waste Service and Minnesota DOT. The MCES, Anoka County annually and regularly come out to Maguire &
Strickland for inspections and permitting. Reports to MN DOT occur regularly
with visits every few years. Quarterly reports are made to the Federal U.S.
Motor Carrier Census.
